If you are currently on another
network and have decided to move to O2,
then you can bring your existing number with you
onto the O2 network without any fuss. This
applies to all customers regardless of whether they
are on a contract or 'pay-as-you-go' phone. In fact
anybody can do it apart from existing O2
customers.
The
Number port procedure
The procedure is quick and
simple - before your contract expires on the network
that you are currently using, simply call the relevant
customer services and request a P.A.C code or Porting
Authorisation Code to give it it's full name. e.g.
ORG123789. Obtaining this code should be absolutely
free although their are some service providers may
try to charge you to port your number - so check first
!
Once you have received your
P.A.C code, please enter you existing number and PAC code on the product order form.
We will despatch your new mobile & SIM as normal along with starting the porting (number transfer) process.
Your existing number will then be ported and made 'Live' on your new SIM in approximately 7 to 10 working days of receipt of your new mobile.
PLEASE NOTE - Please be aware that because your mobile number has to be released from your current network before it can be connected to your new network, you may be without service for up to 1 day.
Additional services such as voicemail and text messaging may also take up to 2 days to be enabled once your number has been transferred.
You are able to continue using your existing mobile/SIM until the number is ported.
If you are porting from O2 Direct to O2 CPWS then it is likely that your port will activate on your original SIM Card.
For this reason please do not discard your original SIM Card
One important thing to remember
is that you MUST request a P.A.C code before a contract
expires i.e. Do not cancel a contract first and then
decide a few days later that you would have liked
to have kept your old number as it simply will not
exist anymore - so be warned !
